bag of memories
I am only half way through this book and I have never read a book so fast. As a former social worker, it’s easy to know this story is true. It’s written in snippets of memories that tie together, almost like having a conversation with someone in person. It’s important to understand where people come from in all areas of life, and this story is valuable for those of us who want to understand the truth about foster care. Jessica was very brave to share her stories, and I believe her life is worth reading.
It's an extremely well-written captivating story you don't want to put down! Yet the story isn't filled with anger or bias, it is remarkably positive and helpful as Jessica provides tips at the end of the book to foster and adoptive parents and ways we can become involved. As she writes, helping one child, showing you care can make the world of difference in their life. It took a lot of courage to put her story out there, but her tale of resilience is inspiring and will surely help others!
Trash Bag of Memories is a raw and powerful look into the life of a former foster youth. It shines light on the faults of the system at large, while giving an inside look to the effects that a poor home life has on a young person. Highly recommended read for anyone who wishes to help change the system for the better.
A devastating & chocking story about the foster care system here in LA. Glad lights are being shed on what’s really going on and people are not exactly opening their doors to actually help children. A very well written book that makes you not wanting to put it down.
Wonderfully written and inspiring to all.
I am so glad to support my foster sister and her book. I love the part where I'm in it. 😊😁🤗
Wow! What can I say? I’m only one chapter in and Jessica is a beautiful writer. I highly recommend grabbing yourself a copy.
As a former foster youth I could relate to your experiences so much! This was a very helpful read.
